The signal ends here.

and honestly, I'm okay with that

Nine months ago I opened a door that led nowhere in particular. Today I'm taking it down for good. Below is the real version of why it existed, no lore, just what actually happened.

Why this existed

A lab, not a stage

Honestly, this was never meant to be a portfolio piece or anything built with an audience in mind. It started because I wanted to get better at a few specific things: hardening a small VPS properly, seeing how far plain CSS could actually go without a framework doing the work for me, and figuring out if a fake mythology could hold together if I took it seriously instead of half finishing it like most of my old projects.

The maze of pages, the ciphers, the way one clue was supposed to quietly lead into the next, all of that came out of my own head. I'm not a designer, I'll say that plainly, so I asked Claude for help making it actually look good. But the structure, the puzzle logic, and everything running on the server underneath were mine, from the first line of code to the last.

I built most of this during a year that mattered more than most for me, one of those stretches where you're quietly figuring out who you want to become next. Having something technical and a little strange that only I understood the full shape of helped me more than I expected it to. Some evenings this was the one thing that made sense.

The quiet part

What was watching back

While people were poking around fragments and dead ends on the visible side of the site, something else was running quietly underneath the whole time. A honeypot sat on port 22, pretending to be a normal SSH service, and it logged every scripted login attempt that came knocking. Most of them got reported. Nobody was ever meant to visit that part on purpose, and somehow it still stayed busier than the ARG itself.

Small confession

Out of everything on this site, this is genuinely the part I'm proudest of. No one who followed the story ever knew it was there. That was always the point.

To whoever found this

Thank you for looking closer

If you ever poked around this site, followed a link that clearly wasn't meant to be public, or noticed something felt slightly off and couldn't say why, that was on purpose. I never really knew how many people went deep into it, and honestly, by the end that number mattered a lot less to me than I thought it would when I started.

This is where it stops. Not because it failed, but because it already did what I needed it to do. It taught me more about servers, about design, about actually finishing something long and strange on my own, than any tutorial ever could have.

Thanks for reading this far, really.
